The future needs you

A mentor is a guide

A mentor is a critical aspect of the Kentucky Youth Challenge Program. Mentors provide our graduates with the real world guidance they need to keep their goals on track long after graduation.

A tool for the future

What is a mentor?

A mentor is a person who is assigned to a graduate of our Youth Challenge Programs who will serve as a guide post for their life after ChalleNGe. A mentor is a member of the cadet’s community who has a vested interest in seeing the cadet succeed. A mentor can be anyone from a teacher to a coach or a pastor.

Mentors are a critical aspect of our program that bolster the success of our graduates. Mentors lend encouragement and guidance to graduates when they set out from our doors and take the first steps towards their dreams.

Mentors are required to perform a few duties and tasks once selected. A mentor will be required to sumbit monthly reports on their mentees in regards to their progress. Mentors will also be required to complete a mentor training and matching ceremony prior to being assigned to a cadet.

On top of all of this, you are required to be a guidepost for your mentee. You have stepped forward and shown a desire to help and in uncertain times, you may be the only one a mentee feels thay can call on. Its up to you to shepherd them to their goals.
